The Ballad of Emmett Till

  • 23 Oct 2015

  • Renaissance Theater, 158 N. Broadway

In the summer of 1955, fourteen-year-old Emmett Till made the journey from Chicago to Money, Mississippi, deep in the Jim Crow South. Two weeks later, his broken and mutilated body was discovered in the Tallahatchie River. Shock and outrage over Till’s kidnapping and brutal murder ignited the Civil Rights Movement and changed our country forever.

Using contemporary prose, jazz, and gospel music, Ifa Bayeza has written a celebration of Emmett Till’s life and a tribute to his legacy in American history

The play starts on October 23 and runs through November 15.  Times vary.  For ticket information contact the Renaissance Theater at 414/291-7800.  The website address for the theater is www.r-t-w.com
